Howdy, Emerge! Happy Wednesday! Tonight we started out with some chat time. Next came announcements. Most of these are the same as last week’s, but here they are anyway.
- Corn Maze – We’re going to a corn maze on Sunday, October 21st after the service. We’ll leave around 12:30 and return later in the afternoon.
- Trunk-or-Treat – The church is having Trunk-or-Treat on Wednesday, October 31st from 6-8 pm. We’ll be doing some sort of outreach in the youth room that night. More details coming soon…
- Worship Night – We’re having another worship night on Friday, November 2nd at 7:00 pm. This one is going to be a bit different though, as the church’s new worship team will be leading. If you have any worship requests, please submit them to us within the next 24 hours (so by tomorrow at 9:30 pm). You can do that here.
After announcements, we discussed prayer requests, then moved into worship. Tonight’s songs were “Love Riot” by Worth Dying For, and “The Stand” by Hillsong. Following worship, Corey prayed for the requests, then we moved into watching the 3rd episode of the Gospel Journey. Following that, we took time to discuss tonight’s episode. Here is the one scripture we used during the discussion tonight.
The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves.For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. 2 Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3 But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins. 4 It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me;
6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings
you were not pleased.
7 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll—
I have come to do your will, my God.’”[a]
8 First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”—though they were offered in accordance with the law. 9 Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second.10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Before we knew it, it was 8:00 and our time together was over. We ended the conversation and went our separate ways.
Have a great week!
QOTW: Which of the things that we have planned are you most excited for? Why?
