I bet you don’t know what that stands for, do you? Keep reading to find out!
Anyway, tonight started out with our chat time, followed by the realization that we have nothing to announce to you all. Scratch that…here are a few things.
- For anyone who was keeping track, Katie & Madi had a competition going to see who could keep their convention bracelet on the longest. We now have a winner…Katie. Congratulations! (Enjoy your bragging rights!) 🙂
- Also, all convention stuff is up at emergeyouth.org/yc13. The pictures are on Facebook, and if I can find time, I’ll take care of tagging them this week.
After that, we moved into tonight’s worship. Tonight’s songs were “I Am Not the Same” by Unhindered, “Higher” by Worth Dying For” and “Alleluia” by Jesus Culture. After worship, Corey prayed and we moved on to tonight’s mini message.
Tonight, we discussed the acronym above. The message started by having everyone take a few minutes to reflect on their lives. Then, we talked about how God will take care of us, just like he takes care of the animals who don’t worry about their lives. We also discussed how the Bible is our owner’s manual and…
Tonight’s scriptures came from Matthew 6:24-34 (seen below) and Matthew 22:37-39.
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
At the conclusion of the mini message, Corey prayed and reminded us to make time to read our Bibles every day. He recommended starting in John if you don’t typically read. He prayed, then we went outside for some fun.
Outside, part of the group ended up playing basketball while the others hung out and played football (we think?). Congratulations to Tim & Corey, who won the basketball game.
