What’s up Emerge?

Tonight was our scheduled mini golf trip, but God had other plans. Because of the rain, we stayed back at the church and had a normal service. It started off with our typical hang out time followed by a countdown to worship. Tonight’s worship songs were “Love Riot” by Worth Dying For, “Today Is The Day” by Lincoln Brewster, “Desert Song” by Hillsong, and “Risen From The Grave” by Worth Dying For. Following worship, Corey prayed and we had our two-minute time-out.

A few announcements came next. You can find those below.

  • Mini Golf – We’ll try again next week. Don’t forget to bring your medical release form & money for mini golf ($6.50 minimum)
  • Car Wash – We’re having another car wash on Saturday, August 11th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Proceeds once again help to fund convention for next year.
  • Mall Trip – Our mall trip is scheduled for Friday evening, August 24th. We’ll get you some more info (times, etc) soon.
  • PennDel’s Cup of Water – We’re still collecting for that. Remember to bring in change/money for that. Our goal is $20 and we’re about half way there!

Following those announcements, we watched the promo for the “Cup of Water” (click here to watch it), then watched another comedy video about cell phones in church. You can watch that below.

Corey’s mini message was next on our agenda for tonight. Tonight he discussed purity. He opened the message with two stories of people who did things that may not be considered right. The first talked about a boy who would use the same cup to obtain free refills from Taco Bell. The other story talked about people at the races using hand stamps to gain entry for free. After telling the stories, he reminded us that we should flee from the evil desires and temptations that we have. Tonight’s key verse was 2 Timothy 2:22

Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2:22 NIV)

Corey prayed to close the mini message, that we took another quick pause before playing another game that Heather came up with. The game had each of us take some popcorn – as much as we wanted. For each piece that we took, we went around the room and told one fact about ourselves. After the game, we watched the “Young Chozen” video again then went outside for the last few minutes of the night.

Question of the Week: (not really a question but…) Tell us one thing about yourself in the comments! 🙂
