What’s Up Emerge? Tonight was an awesome night!

We started off with our usual chat time, then moved into worship. During tonight’s chat time, we also enjoyed chocolate chip cookie brownies that Heather made. Thanks to Heather for baking them and Corey for bringing them in! Tonight we sang Love Riot (Worth Dying For), Where I Belong (Building 429), Desert Song (Hillsong), and Our God (Chris Tomlin). After worship, Anna prayed.

We spent the next few minutes signing cards for the awesome people who helped with our spaghetti dinner this past Sunday. Then came some announcements. First off, we’d like to thank all of those who helped out on Sunday. We made $359, which gave each of you approximately $40 towards convention. Next, Anna announced that we’ll be having a silent auction & hot dog sale on Sunday, March 11th. Please plan to be here that day. At this point, we also discussed how we could have a car wash right now, seeing as it has been pretty warm. We’ll let you know…

Anyway, announcements continued as Anna talked about the “Topics” box that she put out tonight. If you have a topic you’d like to talk about in youth group, fill out one of the slips and put it in the box. Then, I took the stage with a few announcements. First on my list was the announcement of the church’s app. You can get that at doverassembly.mobapp.at. Then, we talked briefly about the Youth & Young Couples worship night on Friday, March 2nd. We’d like to see ALL of you there, as well as some of your friends. More on that is coming next week, but save the date and invite some friends a while, okay?

We then spent a few minutes talking about convention. We showed the newest promo video which can be found here. We also discussed the band (Worth Dying For) and the speaker. We’ve told you over the past weeks that Reggie Dabbs will be the speaker, but something has changed and the new speaker will be Tim Ross. We don’t have any reasoning for the change, but we believe that it is in God’s will. We then showed a clip of Tim Ross. We’ll continue to show some of his stuff over the next few weeks so you can get to know him a bit. We ended the convention talk by reminding you that you need to have $50 in your convention account as well as a definite answer by NEXT Wednesday since we’ll be registering on Friday, February 24th. If you change your mind after 2/24, you will owe that $50 back to the church. Reminder that all convention info can be found at http://emergeyouth.org/convention.html

After the announcements, Madisyn showed a video that she created at school. Then, she showed a clip of Adam Brock, who is a contestant on American Idol that the Bender family knows from their church in Washington, PA. If you watch American Idol, keep an eye out for him.

During Madisyn’s video, Cindy Dennis (who is AWESOME by the way) dropped off chocolate covered strawberries, which we enjoyed after the video.

Anna’s mini message came next. Tonight she talked about God’s love for us. She used John 15:12-13 to talk about our mission to share God’s love with others.

12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

At the end of the mini message, Anna prayed, then showed the following video clip, ending youth group for tonight.
